Steve's Marathon
Two of the Schreurs Clan (father and son) have decided to attempt a 7,000+ mile trip from ocean to ocean and back. Why do this? For two reasons, it will be a great adventure and we are attempting to raise funds for two excellent causes. Steve (father) is a pace group leader and runner for the National AIDS Marathon Training Program. Brian (son) is webmaster, volunteer and supporter of the Cooper's Rock Mountain Lion Sanctuary.

We have created this web site so you can have fun following our progress throughout the trip and so you can sponsor our causes. You can click on each picture to get a larger version.

Trip Introduction
The Schreurs Clan will be holding a family reunion on the eastern shore of Maryland this spring. We will be riding our motorcycles to the family reunion so we can start The Great Motorcycle Trip from the Atlantic ocean. To make the trip more interesting and safer, we will not be riding on any interstate highways. The start and end of the trip will be Dewey Beach, Delaware. The western turn around point of our trip will be San Gregorio, California (close to San Francisco). We expect the trip to take 3 to 4 weeks depending on the weather and how many side trips we take.

Our overnight stays will use a combination of camping and motels. Although both of us are experienced hikers and outdoorsmen, we will not be cooking while we are camping. The extra equipment and time needed for cooking will have to wait for another trip.

Please sponsor us at either the AIDS Marathon or the Mountain Lion Sanctuary. At 1/2 penny per mile, your donation would come to only $35.

AIDS Marathon Introduction
The National AIDS Marathon Training Program's primary goal is to raise funds for organizations that support men, women, and children struggling with AIDS. In addition, every year this program helps hundreds of people achieve a life changing experience of completing a marathon.

This will be Steve's fifth year of running for the AIDS Marathon and the need for your support is greater than ever. More than 20 years have passed since the first case of AIDS was reported and still the epidemic rages on. AIDS is now the leading cause of death for people age 15 to 59 worldwide. Twenty (20) million people have already died and 38 million others are living with HIV/AIDS. By supporting targeted prevention campaigns and AIDS services, we can help keep people safe and alive until there's a cure. Steve would (and has) run 100 miles to extend the life of a child one day.

He feels so strongly about this that he has created a running team that will help other people achieve their goal of completing a marathon and raising funds to fight AIDS. We are asking you to please help us reach our fundraising goals by becoming a sponsor for the running team. Go to Steve's AIDS Marathon 2005 Site to learn more about his marathon training and the running team.

Mountain Lion Sanctuary Introduction
Cooper's Rock Mountain Lion Sanctuary (CRMLS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation located on 170 acres just outside of Morgantown, West Virginia. They provide a safe haven for abused, neglected, and unwanted cougars and other large cats. CRMLS is an all-volunteer sanctuary that provides a permanent home to neglected cougars that need a safe haven. The cats are situated in their natural environment and CRMLS makes them as comfortable as possible for the rest of their lives. CRMLS pays for their care through donations and grants. CRMLS is fully licensed by the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

We are asking you to please sponsor the Mountain Lion Sanctuary so they can rescue more abused animals and provide a good home for their current residents.
