I have chosen to run marathons and other events (see "My Events" for a list) to help three worthy causes:
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day,
Champion the City Choir of Washington (CCW),
and
The Fight Against AIDS.
I have already run the 2011 Disney Dopy Challenge that is a 5K Family Run (3.1 miles) on Friday 1/7/11, a half-marathon (13.1 miles)
on Saturday, 1/8/11, and a full-marathon (26.2 miles) the next day, 1/9/11. In addition, I will be running the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile,
the Red Cross 5K, and the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure 5K. I will also be walking in the Breast Cancer 3-Day
(60 miles) starting Friday, September 23, 2011. This is an extra effort on my part. During these hard economic times can you make
an extra effort? All three causes need you help now! Please donate to one or more of the causes. The thermometer to the right
shows the combined status of my sponsorship level.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure Summary
Can you imagine a world without breast cancer? It's hard, given how pervasive the disease is.
But go ahead, let yourself envision that world. Because it's not a fantasy. It's a reality within
our grasp. Each step I take on the Breast Cancer 3-Day brings us closer to ending the disease
forever.
Every advancement in breast cancer research, treatment, education and prevention in the last 28 years
has been touched by a Komen for the Cure grant. Seventy-five percent of Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure funds go to national research focused
on decreasing breast cancer incidence and mortality in the next decade. The remaining 25 percent of
the funds support the Komen Affiliate network and community-based breast health programs.

Everyone has been touched in some way by breast cancer. And recoiled from the touch. No family
should lose a mother prematurely, or a dear friend, sister, wife, daughter, or co-worker. No one
just diagnosed, should have to look at the mirror in the morning and say: Will I survive? Everyone
deserves a lifetime: we feel it deep in our bones. I am asking you to please help me reach my
fundraising goals by becoming a sponsor for me at my Breast Cancer 3-Day fundraising site

Champion the City Choir of Washington Summary
The City Choir of Washington, led by Grammy winner Robert Shafer, is presenting its forth
season of great choral masterpieces and they need your help. This chorus represents an
extraordinary level of personal commitment by individual singers and supporters, who have
donated countless hours of their time and talents, as well as remarkable generosity in actual
dollars.
This newly formed chorus is bursting with ideas to foster interest and involvement in choral
music. An outreach chorus has been formed and they present programs at schools, nursing homes, and
other locations where live music is a cherished treat. In addition, this chorus provides
opportunities to children's and young adult's choirs to perform in a professional setting.

"She sings, he runs" For the third year, Susan and I are
combining our "slogan" as a joint request for your support. Susan has committed to making
"Soldier Quilts" to be given to wounded soldiers. For every $500 donated through "Champion the
City Choir of Washington," Susan will make a quilt for our wounded soldiers. If you would like
to sponsor a quilt in your name, make a $200 donation and
e-mail me a note to let Susan
and I know that you are sponsoring a quilt.

The Fight Against AIDS Summary
I have chosen to fight AIDS because AIDS is the worst epidemic the earth has seen since the
Black Plague. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now estimate that more than one
million Americans are living with HIV. Up to one-third of them do not know they are HIV-positive.
Nationwide, someone under the age of 25 is infected with HIV every 30 minutes.
Despite recent advances in medical treatment, the AIDS epidemic is far from over.
Fund raising for the FIGHT AGAINST AIDS helps men, women, and children with AIDS lead longer
and better lives. I would run 100 miles to extend the life of a child one day.

This will be my eleventh year of running to help fight AIDS and the need for your support is
greater than ever. I am asking you to please help me reach my fundraising goals by becoming a
sponsor for me at my fundraising site
